From 3 May 2016 the appointment is required only for Visa Application Centres in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
In any other Visa Application Center in Russian Federation the appointment is no longer required.

The Visa Application Centres of Spain in regions will be closed on 24, 25 and 31 December 2015 and on 1 to 8 January 2016.

From 14 September 2015 will be a change in the rules for the submission of visa applications in some Spain Visa Application Centres in the Russian Federation
From 14 September 2015 will be a change in the rules for the submission of visa applications in some Spain Visa Application Centres in the Russian Federation: to submit your visa application in Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, Novorossiysk and Perm you must schedule an appointment.
In Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Ufa, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Omsk, Saratov, Vologda, Smolensk and Arkhangelsk the appointment is not required.

From 14 September 2015 will come into force in the Russian Federation the global system of biometric visas
From 14 September 2015 will come into force in the Russian Federation the global system of biometric visas (VIS), whose main novelty is the capture of biometric data from visa applicants (fingerprints and digital photographs).
In order to facilitate the transition to the new system, on Friday 11th September both the Consulate General of Spain in Moscow and the Visa Application Centre won´t accept visa applications, except in justified urgent cases. Withdrawal of processed passports will take place during the regular working hours.
As for the regional Visa Application Centres, the last day for the submission of non-biometric visa applications will be:
- 4 September 2015: Irkutsk, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Saratov, Vologda, Smolensk, Novorossiysk.
- 7 September 2015: Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Ufa, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Perm.
- 7 September 2015: Yerevan (Armenia), Minsk (Belarus).
- 10 September 2015: Moscow
- 4 September 2015: Irkutsk, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Saratov, Vologda, Smolensk, Novorossiysk.

From 14 September 2015 will be a change in the rules for the submission of visa applications
From 14 September 2015 will be a change in the rules for the submission of visa applications for entering member countries of the Schengen Agreement.
To obtain a visa, applicants must come personally to the Visa Application Center to provide their biometric data (fingerprints and digital photograph). These data will be stored for five years in the European Visa Information System VIS, and during this period, visas will be issued as before, without mandatory personal visit to the Visa Application Center or to the Consulate.
In connection with this, no applications will be accepted through the Visa at your doorstep Service:
- In Moscow and St. Petersburg from 31 August 2015.
- In other regions from 25 August 2015.
